No, it's not the end result of unclogging my bathroom sink. Or when I wake up after dreaming of Draumha. World of Goo is a physics based puzzle game from tiny games developer 2D Boy (seriously, like 2 people designed the game).
WoG has gotten rave reviews from most game media sites as well as winning multiple awards. I picked it up yesterday, and it is truly a fantastic and innovative game, with wonderful art design and character.
A brief synopsis of gameplay: Your goal in most levels is to reach an endpoint by building structures out of goo balls. For example, you have to construct a bridge to cross a chasm. Being a physics based game, forces like gravity and friction play a role, and if your bridge doesn't have a strong enough base, eventually gravity will win and your bridge will collapse in an amusing gooey wreck.
The game is available for download over Steam, through the website linked above, and through Wii Online Marketplace. Go buy it! Small game developers need support from gamers, else all that will be designed in the future is another cardboard cutout Halo game.

Looks a lot like Downstream Panic! which was a fun game on the PSP. I may check it out.
Ok, I'm addicted.

Haven't played it yet, but it reminds me a tiny bit of Crayon Physics: http://www.crayonphysics.com/
Also, an awesome puzzle that is truly progressive...you actually feel like you are making progress as you solve it....Grow Tower came out last week (works like the other grow games, very imaginative): http://www.eyezmaze.com/eyezblog_en/blog/2009/01/grow_tower.html |

World of Goo is $4.99 on Steam for the next 21 hours. If you haven't (or if you did and pirated it), go buy this game. Worth so much more than a Big Mac and fry's. http://store.steampowered.com/app/22000/ |
