Confession: I may be a TV junkie?

We were talking about Leverage last night and I thought it could be educational to discuss the TV shows you enjoy/despise/recommend. I like to have something running on my other screen while I'm doing other stuff. I find seasons of shows work well.

Selfishly, I'm finding myself running a little dry - need some new content. Old stuff is good too. Listing everything I've watched over the past years (in no particular order). Judge/suggest away!

Watched:
  • 24
  • 30 Rock
  • Dexter
  • Weeds
  • Dollhouse
  • Kings
  • Summer Heights High
  • Better off Ted
  • Arrested Development
  • The Office (US and UK)
  • Californication
  • Deadwood
  • Glee
  • True Blood
  • V
  • Friends
  • Star Treks
  • Stargates
  • CSIs
  • Buffy
  • The Sopranos
  • Leverage
  • Columbo
  • Monk
  • Psych
  • Knight Rider
  • Hogan's Heroes
  • The A-Team
  • Freakazoid
  • Futurama
  • The IT Crowd

Did not like:
  • Seinfeld
  • Sanctuary
  • Six Feet Under
  • NCIS
  • Desperate Housewives
  • Grey's Anatomy

Interested in:
  • Eureka
  • Entourage
  • Andromeda
  • Extras
  • The Simpsons

See, I'm the opposite. I don't watch much TV... I don't know where you find the time!
Maybe I play WoW too much... /ponder.

Shows I do like involve a lot of juicy stories... Desperate Houswives and the Tudors come to mind. And there was also the Rome series, but I kind of just stopped watching that one. It wasn't bad though.

Other shows I like are lighthearted funny ones... King of the Hill (Texans yay!), Seinfeld, South Park, and to a lesser extent Simpsons and Family guy.

I guess I'm with Mel. I don't watch a lot of television. And almost none of it live. When I was in university I watched some to fill the time and take breaks, but since graduating and my wow addicion taking full hold I usually only watch purchased DVD seasons with my wife.
Now, onto your list. I haven't seen a lot of the more recent stuff. I had wanted to watch dollhouse but again, who has the time.
Noticible omissions\suggestions:
I enjoyed the new Battlestar series.
Andromeda was often interesting.
I assume you've been keeping up with SG:U?
Ever watch Red Dwarf? Quirky old British scifi.

I like the sci-fi.
Good luck in your search.

Edit** I saw Buffy on your list... How about Angel? And what about Amanda Tappings new show... Supernatural? I think. Oooh, and the Sarah Conner chronicles.
If you watch or have watched those last two let me know how they were, I've been interested in them.

I'm a big cartoon geek as you will see from my list. I don't watch any live TV, all previously recorded using Tivo.

King of the Hill
The Simpsons
Family Guy (when it was good)
Futurama
Seinfeld

I'm like the others, I don't watch much TV. Mostly because I don't have cable or anything, and I am limited to only ~6 channels.

I generally like comedies, not-so-much with dramas, although I really enjoyed the Battlestar Galactica reboot . I'm a huge fan of the early years of the Simpsons, particularly Seasons 4-8. Classic, brilliant, transcendental comedy.

I'm also a big fan of the Canadian series Corner Gas. I got the complete series on DVD for Christmas and have watched every episode. On the downside, this has only increased my desire to stalk and go through the garbage of actress Gabrielle Miller (Lacey for those familiar with the show).

I also love the works of the short ugly Brit Ricky Gervais. The English version of The Office and his follow up series Extras are absolutely amazing. Highly recommended for fans of british comedy.

One of my few channels is the Comedy Network, and while most of it sucks, I do get The Daily Show and Colbert Report, which I try to watch whenever I can. <3 those guys.

Entourage
TrueBlood
Family Guy
King of the Hill
American Dad

Those are pretty much the top 5 that I'll watch whenever they are on regardless if they are reruns or not. I've watched the same King of the Hill episode 6 times in one day before.

Nice responses!

@Mel: Desperate Housewives can die in a fire. And then be resurrected to be the long lost child of the character that just fell down an elevator shaft but lived. Seriously.

@Jbean: Yea, I forgot BSG. Enjoyed that. I'll check out Andromeda. Been watching SG:U. Not my favorite, but I do love the mythology of the SG universe. Never seen Red Dwarf, may need to check that out. Not too interested in Angel.. maybe. Amanda Tapping's new show is Sanctuary, right? I didn't like it. Didn't Sarah Connor chronicles get cancelled?

@Xentin/Ruz: Futurama is amazing. I love it. I couldn't stand the Simpsons for some reason. Maybe I'll give it another try. I'll check out Extras.

@Dien: My brother suggested Entourage too. May have to check it out.

@Shiro: IT Crowd added to "liked" list. So funny.

A lot of my list overlaps with Selcouth's. I usually watch TV through Netflix (mail and instant watch on my Xbox) or more legally ambiguous methods on the computer.

Watched:
  • 24
  • 30 Rock
  • Dexter
  • Weeds
  • Dollhouse
  • Kings
  • The Office (US)
  • Glee
  • True Blood
  • V
  • Star Treks
  • Stargates
  • Buffy
  • Leverage
  • Monk
  • Psych
  • The IT Crowd

Not copied from Selcouth:
  • Doctor Who
  • Angel
  • Torchwood
  • Jekyll
  • Father Ted
  • Lost
  • Merlin
  • Band of Brothers
  • Family Guy
  • Firefly
  • Jericho
  • Mythbusters
  • Burn Notice
  • Scrubs
  • House
  • Castle
  • The Daily Show
  • The Colbert Report

Did not like:
  • Seinfeld
  • Desperate Housewives
  • Grey's Anatomy
  • Heroes (post S1)
  • Deadwood
  • Red Dwarf

Interested in:
  • Fringe
  • The Wire
  • Entourage
  • Mad Men
  • How I Met Your Mother
  • BSG
  • The Sopranos
  • Arrested Development

Also, now that we have a TV and a movies thread, I think the next logical step is podcasts! Or maybe books...

id suggest reaper.. was on the cw but is now cancelled after 2 seasons. Well worth the watch with a pretty good cast and a unique premise. This kid's parents sell his soul to the devil so now he (with the help of his friends) are the devils bounty hunters, catching souls that escape from hell. I think ABC was gonna put it into syndication next year though.

oh sel.. eureka is good and andromeda was ok

It's a good 'fun' show that you can't take that seriously. I would equate it to Leverage but with spies instead of thieves.

Chuck is loads of fun.

Clone High only ran one season, but imo they should have pulled the plug on Scrubs around season 6 and gone back to this.

If you like Matt Berry in the IT crowd/Darkplace he did Snuff Box with Rich Fulcher, a semi-plot driven sketch show that ran about 6 episodes.

In the same vein, most fans of British TV speak highly of The Mighty Boosh.

Heroes only ran one season, and it was brilliant

I always liked Titus, which ran a good few seasons on Fox.

Andy Ricther Controls the Universe was great for its one season.

Ditto on Greg the Bunny.

Wow I noticed a lot of good TV shows in this thread so far but how has Sons of Anarchy not been mentioned? That show is amazing.

toss in the Venture Brothers for some really wrong cartoon action.. it's as bad as family guy.
and you can see celevin on television in Big Bang Theory ( I HATED this show at first but now I find it very funny)

You've seen almost every tv show I've watched in the past few years. If you're interested in a comedy I'll recommend my favorite Canadian tv show: Trailer Park Boys.

If swearing/alcohol/pot offends you then don't bother watching it.

Most of my friends that I got liking Trailer Park Boys were hooked by the second episode of the first season: "Fuck Community College, Let's Get Drunk & Eat Chicken Fingers".
