Damage Control

This is a link to a Prezi that my dad created. I found it kind of interesting, maybe you guys might too. If you haven't used Prezi before, it's pretty simple. Like power point, use the directional arrows on the UI or the arrows on your keyboard to navigate forward and backward through the 'slides'. I think the 3rd video in the show you have to manually press play, but the others will automatically start. Anyways I just thought the presentation had some really fun and relevant facts in it. Edit: It really drives my Dad insane that schools prohibit cellphones, iPad/Touches etc from being brought to the classroom. In his mind technology needs to be embraced and used as a tool for learning, not discouraged. Children are engaging in social media when they're on these devices, and we should make social media a tool for learning, and not a distraction from it.

He teaches the developmentally challenged class. Downs-syndrome, Autism, Learning Disabled etc. Their class has a 1:1 iPod Touch to Student ratio. They have a smart-board, and access to computers at a 1:1 level as well. It's a pretty remarkable class room set up, and I for one am quite jealous of the opportunities that students have nowadays that we didn't have growing up. Alas, that's technology for you.
